PROP CHALLENGE POST-MORTEM

Failed a prop challenge? Find the rule that ended it.

A challenge ends the moment one rule breaks, often on a day that felt normal. Answer four questions, see which rule caught you and what to change before you pay for the next one.

  • No time limit
  • Markets open 24/7
  • Daily limit 3% or 5%
  • Fees from $79

Hash Hedge figures as published on its site and user guide, checked 22 October 2026.

What ended your last challenge?

Four quick questions. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere.

1. How did it end?
2. Positions open overnight or over a weekend?
3. Risk per trade
4. Did you count fees and funding?

Pick an answer in each row to see the post-mortem.

Four ways a challenge ends

Every evaluation has the same few exits. Here is how each one works at Hash Hedge.

Daily loss limit

Measured on equity, so open positions count. Fees and funding count too, and the day starts from your balance at the daily reset (00:00 UTC+4).

Hash Hedge: 3% on the 1-stage route, 5% on the 2-stage route, of the starting balance. An optional Daily Loss Protection add-on refreshes the limit once instead of failing the challenge.

Overall drawdown

The total you may lose across the whole challenge. A long losing streak, not one bad day, usually reaches it.

Hash Hedge: 6% on the 1-stage route; 10% in stage 1 and 8% after on the 2-stage route.

Time limit

A deadline pushes traders to force setups near the end of the period.

Hash Hedge: no time limit on either route; minimum 3 trading days (1-stage) or 5 per stage (2-stage).

A trading rule

Firms differ on rules such as hedging, account limits and allowed instruments. Read the full list before you pay.

Hash Hedge publishes its rules on its site and in its user guide; hedging across accounts is prohibited.

Before you pay again

Six checks that take five minutes and match the rules above.

  1. Keep risk per trade at about 1% or less: at 2%, two losses can use most of a 3–5% daily limit.
  2. Close or reduce positions before the daily reset if a new day must start clean.
  3. Leave room for fees and funding: they count toward the daily loss.
  4. Pick a route whose daily limit is several times your risk per trade.
  5. Read the full rule list of the firm, not only the targets.
  6. Only pay a challenge fee you can afford to lose.

Does the post-mortem tell me I will pass next time?

No. It points to the rule that most likely ended your last attempt and to the loss limits you would face next. The result depends on your trading.

What is Daily Loss Protection?

An optional Hash Hedge add-on that, according to its user guide, refreshes the daily loss limit once instead of failing the challenge. Check the current terms before you buy it.
